BSH Hausgeräte GmbH is one of the world's leading companies in the sector and the largest home appliance manufacturer in Europe. To be the first choice for consumers worldwide drives the company and its employees. BSH aspires to improve the quality of life for people with its exceptional brands, high-class products and superior solutions.
The ongoing digitalization creates even more complex demands on home appliances. In order to meet the constantly evolving consumer needs BSH will transform itself from a supplier of home appliances to a company that offers personalized digital functions, services and content in addition to home appliances.
With Home Connect , BSH offers a cross-brand platform as the basis for a rapidly growing ecosystem of connected home appliances and consumer-centric services for a special future experience in the kitchen.
BSH is a trademark licensee of Robert Bosch GmbH for the Bosch brand and Siemens AG for the Siemens brand.
Techstars is the worldwide network that helps entrepreneurs succeed. Techstars founders connect with other entrepreneurs, experts, mentors, alumni, investors, community leaders, and corporations to grow their companies. Techstars operates four divisions: Techstars Startup Programs, Techstars Mentorship-Driven Accelerator Programs, Techstars Corporate Innovation Partnerships, and the Techstars Venture Capital Fund.
This is the first joint accelerator program of BSH and Techstars. Together they are looking for startups worldwide with innovative ideas for the future home and its core, the connected kitchen. The accelerator is part of an open innovation approach. BSH wants to collaborate with startups in order to help them to accelerate their business models, which in return inspires us. We hope for a successful collaboration also after the Accelerator program in order boost our speed of innovation.
Applications are open to all startups worldwide which have innovative ideas and business models for the future home and the connected kitchen. At BSH, our “home turf” is the heart of the home, i.e. the kitchen and kitchen appliances. Both the home and the kitchen will change in the future ‒ hardware and services will interact. Think of how you already get digitally inspired while cooking today. You might source your groceries differently and cook differently and faster, maybe interacting with friends from California while you are in Seattle. If you have a business idea that enhances the consumer experience and fits into this picture, you will most likely fit well into our program. We do however not limit our view to the kitchen.
For more information, see the Video interview with Mario Pieper in the blog section.
In the first step, please fill out the online questionnaire in the application system in which you briefly introduce your team and the business model. Together with the Techstars team, we will narrow down the applications by mid-October to the 60 most relevant companies, with which Techstars will conduct interviews. The 20 most promising startups will be invited to a video interview with BSH and Techstars in the first half of November. We will send out offers to the ten best startups by the end of November 2018 for the first cohort. The program starts February 4th in Munich.
As core value of the accelerator we provide
For participating in the program, we receive 6% of common stock in exchange to which we will invest $20,000 into your business. This is a standard of all Techstars programs.
In addition to the $20,000 mentioned above, a $100,000 convertible note is automatically offered to all companies participating in a Techstars accelerator upon acceptance. More details will be communicated during the application process.
Techstars offers an Equity Back Guarantee.
Yes. We do expect that at least one member of your team is primarily based in Munich during the program. This benefits you because you can take advantage of the numerous learning opportunities, networking and coaching that will be provided. The BSH Future Home Accelerator Powered by Techstars is a major commitment, and we expect you to be around most of the time. However, it’s your company, you call the shots, so travelling as necessary for business or family requirements is okay by us.
No. It is your company, so live wherever you want to. Many companies do decide to relocate to the city where they went through their Techstars program because of the vast local network that they can continue to tap into once the program concludes.
